If one or more of the statements above sounds familiar, I want you to know that I understand where you’re coming from. I struggled with all of these myself.
In fact, many of us struggle with menstrual cycle issues because we weren’t given the knowledge of how to best care for our body. Our society is structured around a 24 hour cycle, while we have a monthly cycle.
Which means that we are left to figure out what can disrupt our cycles on our own. But that doesn’t mean you have to do it alone.
My philosophy is that our cycle is our compass, not our shackle. That we can heal our cycles naturally through how we live our daily lives. What we eat on a regular basis, how often and how we move our body, and what we get exposed to all have a huge impact on our cycle health.
Learning how to map out our cycle is the first step in better understanding our bodies
Let me introduce myself first
Hi, my name is Denise!
My cycle issues began when I went on birth control in my early 20s. Like many, I wasn’t taught about hormonal birth control or hormonal health in general. So when it was time to choose a type, I just focused on the ones with the highest efficacy.
Those being the Depo Provera shot and then later on the Nexplanon implant. Shortly after, I started gaining weight and experiencing severe cystic acne. It took me 4 years to realize that these were common side effects of hormonal birth control!
After that, I had the implant removed. I thought that would be the end and that things would start getting better. But man was I wrong! No matter what products or treatments I tried, my cystic acne wouldn’t go away. And no matter how much I worked out or tried different diets, I was still left feeling bloated and lethargic. My periods were erratic and I struggled with PMS for half my cycle.
My own goal of healing my hormones naturally was how I stumbled upon herbalism and plant medicine. I became fascinated with how versatile and potent plants can be. Especially when it comes to supporting the body as a whole. From digestion, sleep, immune to everything in between. Which all need to be addressed for our hormonal health. Which is why I became a clinical herbalist.
Along the way I learned about cycle tracking and how much information our bodies tell us. From what type of hormonal imbalnce it can be (there are diffrent types!) to seeing if the supplements/ herbs are helping or not. Having this knowledge was fundametal in supporting my hormonal health.
Little by little I started to feel like myself again. I had the energy to be more active, I felt less bloated and my cystic acne that had overtaken my thoughts on a daily basis had finally started to go away.
That’s why I know you can heal your cycle naturally and why I’m so passionate about sharing this knowledge with others!
